Hi
My fascination (friends call it an obsession) goes back nearly 40 years.
In my first year of infant school my glamorous Mum, (who simply adored hats, bigger = better), entered me into a Easter Bonnet parade. The other kids were sporting various chicken, rabbit and egg constructions but not me. My 'bonnet' was the most enormous black straw hat, exquisitely dressed in silks, flowers, ribbons, feathers and buttons, all celebrating their individual beauty, but at the same time, combining textures, shapes and colours, resulting in a display that people described as stunning !
I clearly remember the judge locating me under its gigantic canopy brim and asking me what my entry was called. I replied 'Hat' completely forgetting that the piece of art I was wearing, had been christened 'A Day at the Races'.
I had forgotten the hat's name but not how I felt. Wearing that magnificent creation which my Mum had made especially for me, produced a memory so vivid I can almost smell, taste and touch it !.
That day a nervous 5 year old was transformed into a beautiful elegant lady - truly a Champagne Experience !
Making hats is my passion, my quest is to create Champagne Experiences.
Why? Because they are truly magical !
With love,
Jx
